Mainnet Launch Timeline

Join us as we count down the releases leading up to Mainnet launch.

Building a decentralized search engine is no easy feat. It’s been a busy year, and one of the most successful in the project’s history. We wouldn’t be where we are today without your support, and we’re excited to share the final steps on the countdown to Mainnet with you here.

Our goal for this post is to give you a clearer timeline for when we expect to switch to Mainnet and what to anticipate as we approach launch.

New Reward Verification System Release

This is the new internal anti-abuse system that helps Presearch protect itself from token farmers — people intentionally searching and creating multiple accounts in order to siphon tokens from the project. This is a critical element for the longevity of the project and it is important that it functions well.

The system is already running behind the scenes, with final adjustments being made before flipping it on fully across the platform. Once this release is fully live, the level system will go away, and we’ll also be looking to eventually reduce minimum thresholds for withdrawals and rewards claiming. Those whose accounts have been flagged may not be able to withdraw their tokens, and we will also not immediately be lowering the withdrawal threshold until we can confirm that the system is working as intended.

This release is planned be fully live by the end of February.

Web 3 Withdrawals

Many of you have been complaining (and rightfully so) about the withdrawal system. This release will make it faster and easier to manage PRE withdrawals. All you have to do is connect your wallet and pay the gas fee to initiate a withdrawal of your tokens from the platform. For most withdrawals, there will be no human intervention, no delay, and you’ll be able to withdrawal directly to the blockchain. Note that manual reviews will still be required for security purposes on a small subset of withdrawal request, particularly for large withdrawals or for any accounts with suspected violations of the terms of service. Due to the decrease in volume of transactions needing to be reviewed, we anticipate that reviews will take place much more quickly.

This release is planned to go live by mid-March.

Smart Node Routing

We are currently testing smart node routing, which is a critical component to the Mainnet release. Once this release is complete, traffic will no longer be routed on a ‘round robin’ basis, with performance determining rewards only. Smart node routing will enable actual traffic to be distributed according to node performance, and rewards will shift to being based on the actual traffic served. This is primarily just a change in how rewards are assessed, and should not result in any changes to your node’s performance rating. This release is essential to going live with more than 50,000 nodes with differing performance and reliability to ensure that user queries are routed to a node that performs well with minimal latency.

This release is planned to go live in mid-March.

Navigation improvements and migration to Presearch.com

The current experience navigating between the various Presearch platforms can be a bit confusing and cumbersome. This release will see streamlined navigation and settings across the separate parts of the platform (search engine, nodes and keywords dashboards, token marketplace, account management, etc.). We’ll also be migrating the search results experience onto the same domain (instead of using engine.presearch.org) to avoid cross-domain issues and make the experience more standardized. This release will also see the site switch from the Presearch.org domain to Presearch.com, which will make the project much more marketable.

This project is planned to go live in multiple phases between now and the end of March.

Mainnet soft launch

We plan to begin shifting production traffic to the current Testnet environment by the end of March. This will enable us to begin testing the platform with higher traffic volumes and load test the Smart Node Routing functionality in particular. After soft launch, node operators will see a significant increase in traffic and will begin to see increased rewards as their nodes start to handle more and more real world traffic. This event will kick off our main marketing campaign to celebrate and announce the official Mainnet launch that will follow approximately four weeks later. The plan is to lock in the official launch date over that month as the testing of the platform progresses.

This launch is planned to go live on March 31st, 2022.

Geographically Distributed Gateways

Currently, all Presearch nodes and search web servers connect to gateways in North America. This leads to a slower experience for international searchers, and leads to poorer performance (latency) for international nodes. We need Presearch to be globally-distributed to ensure the best possible search experience for both searchers and node operators around the world and to ensure the project is as decentralized as possible.

This release is planned to go live throughout the month of April.

Mainnet official launch

Mainnet launch will be a turning point in the project’s history as it will be the first time that our search results will be powered 100% by decentralized user nodes. It will increase censorship resistance for the project and lay the groundwork for decentralizing all components of the search engine. It’s fast approaching and we can’t wait to release it to the world. This will be our biggest marketing event in the history of the project, and we see this as the start of the next chapter in the project’s story, where we are more focused on the user experience, growth, and driving positive token economics by leveraging keyword staking and other value capture mechanisms.

We are super excited about the official launch of Mainnet and are targeting this release to go live by the end of April, 2022.

The rest of 2022 and beyond

Stay tuned for our roadmap for the rest of 2022 and beyond. We’ll be releasing it in the coming weeks!
